Utilisation of CO2
Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR)
The captured CO2 from biogas upgrading is used to inject into depleted oil fields to raise the pressure and urge the flow of remaining oil. This process has another plus, which is the fact that carbon dioxide is buried underground with the CO2, and this means that it reduces the overall carbon footprint (Verma et al.,2015).
Building Materials
CO2 is chemically converted to stable carbonate and integrated with concrete, making building materials environmentally friendly. This strategy not only reduces CO2 levels but also enhance the durability and strength of the construction materials.
Food and Beverage Industry
CO2 is made use of in food and beverage industry in the process of carbonization of drinks, using it as antibacterial agent in packaged foods. The CO2 captured from AD can be cleaned thus applicable for those purposes.
Synthetic Fuels
We can develop synthetic fuels which are composed of CO2 combined with hydrogen which is produced with renewable energy source such as methanol, diesel, and gasoline. This will speed up formation of a cleaner fuel cycle.
